Brief Description:
There are four separate mini-games in this activity.  First the students must choose a game to play.  Then they choose their math level and begin the game.  Each activity responds differently when the student answers the math question correctly.  After completing a chosen amount of problems or after a certain amount of time expires, the game ends, and the student is taken to a summary screen of their work.
Lesson Ideas:
Introduction to Math Drills, Math Skills Review, Timed Challenge
How To Play:
First the student must choose one of the four games to play.  Then after choosing their game options, they may begin the game.
  • In the asteroids game, as the student answers questions correctly, the ship will blast the asteroid.  If the student takes too long or misses the question, the asteroid will crash into the ship and lower its life bar.  The game is over after the question/time limit is reached or if the ship crashes.
  • In the car race game, as the student answers questions correctly, the car speeds around the track. If the student misses a question, the car slows down and eventually stops. The game is over when the car completes all of the laps or if the question/time limit is reached.
  • In the shuttle launch game, as the student answers questions correctly, the shuttle begins to build speed and launch off the surface. If the student answers questions incorrectly, the shuttle will slow down and eventually crash on the surface. The game is over when the question/time limit is reached.
  • In the fireworks game, as the student answers questions correctly, a firework is launched into the sky. The goal is to launch as many fireworks as possible before the question/time limit is reached.
After completing each game the student is taken to a printable summary screen of their work.
